Why BPSC is Special
BPSC (Bihar Public Service Commission) conducts one of the most competitive state civil service exams in India. With 3-4 lakh applicants for 500-800 posts, the competition is fierce but the reward — becoming an SDM, DSP, or BDO in Bihar — is immense.
Key difference from UPSC: BPSC has NO CSAT paper, NO optional subject in Prelims, and Hindi is compulsory in Mains. Bihar-specific content carries significant weightage.
BPSC Exam Pattern
- Prelims: 1 paper, 150 questions, 150 marks, 2 hours. NO negative marking!
- Mains: 4 papers — Hindi (qualifying), GS Paper 1 (300 marks), GS Paper 2 (300 marks), Optional (300 marks).
- Interview: 120 marks. Total merit = Mains + Interview = 1020 marks.
- Qualifying marks: Prelims cutoff varies (typically 80-95 for General category).
- No negative marking in Prelims is a huge advantage — attempt all 150 questions!
