EPFO SSA Exam Overview
- Conducted by UPSC (not SSC). Level: graduate-level banking exam pattern.
- Prelims: 100 Qs — English (30), Reasoning (35), Quant (35). 60 minutes. Negative: 0.25.
- Mains: 3 sections — GA (40), Quant (40), English (20). 120 marks. 2 hours. Descriptive: Essay + Letter.
- Total vacancies: Usually 1,000-3,000. Competition ratio: 1:50 approximately.
- Post: Social Security Assistant in EPFO offices. Level 5 pay (₹29,200-92,300).
Section-wise Strategy
- English (30 Qs): Focus on RC (10 Qs), Error Detection (5), Cloze Test (5). Practice 1 RC daily.
- Reasoning (35 Qs): Puzzles & Seating (15 Qs most important). Practice 5 puzzles daily.

Labour Laws for EPFO (Mains)
- Employees Provident Fund & Misc. Provisions Act, 1952 — know EPF contribution rates, eligibility.
- Employees State Insurance Act, 1948 — ESI scheme, coverage limits, benefits.
- Labour Code on Social Security, 2020 — new amalgamated code replacing old acts.
- Minimum Wages Act + Payment of Wages Act — basic concepts.
- Recent changes: PF interest rate, auto-claim settlement, ABRY scheme, e-nomination.
