Government Job Interview Tips — इंटरव्यू में क्या पूछा जाता है?

Sarkari naukri interview ki complete preparation guide. Common questions, dress code, documents checklist, body language tips, UPSC interview vs SSC DV aur panel composition details.

Government job interview mein selection ya rejection aksar chhoti chhoti cheezon pe depend karta hai — sahi kapde, confident body language, aur prepared answers. UPSC personality test ho ya SSC document verification, State PSC interview ho ya Banking interview — har ek ka format alag hai lekin basic preparation same hai. Is guide mein wo sab hai jo tumhe interview ke din confident banayega.

Common Interview Questions — Yeh Zaroor Puchha Jaata Hai

"Tell me about yourself / Apne baare mein batao" — yeh pehla question hai 90% interviews mein. Answer mein: naam, education, hometown, family background (briefly), achievements, why this job — 2 minutes mein khatam karo. Rehearse karo lekin ratta mat lagao — natural sound karna chahiye. Hometown ke baare mein 2-3 interesting facts yaad rakho — panel aksar wahan se questions uthata hai.

"Why government job / Sarkari naukri kyun chahte ho?" — honest answer do lekin sirf "job security" mat bolo. Bolo: "I want to serve the public through a structured system. Government jobs allow me to contribute to nation-building at the grassroots level while providing stability for my family." Hindi mein: "Main samaj ki seva structured tareeke se karna chahta hoon, aur sarkari naukri mein yeh mauka milta hai." Paisa aur security mention karna galat nahi hai — lekin service angle pehle rakho.

  • "Current affairs" — Last 3 months ki important news, especially government schemes, international events, sports achievements. Daily 15 minutes newspaper padho interview se 1 month pehle.
  • "Your state/district ke baare mein batao" — District ka area, population, famous places, industries, problems, MP/MLA ka naam, district collector ka naam.
  • "Why this specific department?" — Research karo department kya kaam karta hai. Income Tax mein interview ho toh tax collection figures, recent changes (new tax regime) jaano.
  • "Hobbies" — jo bhi bolo uske baare mein 5 follow-up questions ka answer ready rakho. Cricket bola toh last match score, captain, recent controversy jaano. Reading bola toh last 3 books ke naam aur summary yaad ho.
  • "Strengths and weaknesses" — Strength: relevant to job (analytical thinking, patience, teamwork). Weakness: genuine lekin non-critical (I tend to overthink decisions, I am working on being more concise).

Dress Code — Kya Pehne Interview Mein

Men: Light-colored formal shirt (white, light blue, cream) + dark formal trousers (navy, dark grey, black) + leather belt + polished formal shoes (black or brown). Tie optional lekin UPSC/Banking mein pehno. Full sleeves preferred. Beard trimmed ya clean-shaven. Hair neat. No strong perfume — mild deodorant enough. Watch pehen sakte ho — formal watch, digital/sports nahi.

Women: Formal salwar suit ya saree (solid colors — avoid loud prints), ya formal western (blazer + trousers + formal shirt). Light makeup — no heavy eye shadow or bright lipstick. Hair tied neatly — bun ya ponytail. Minimal jewelry — small earrings, no danglers. Comfortable formal shoes — no stilettos (you may need to walk). Dupatta properly pinned. Bindi optional — depends on personal preference.

Documents to Carry — Complete Checklist

  • Original documents: 10th marksheet, 12th marksheet, Graduation degree/provisional certificate, Post-graduation (if applicable), Caste certificate (if SC/ST/OBC), Income certificate (if EWS), Domicile certificate, Character certificate (from Gazetted Officer or college), Experience certificate (if applicable).
  • Photocopies: 3 sets of all original documents (attested by Gazetted Officer). 8-10 passport-size photos (white background, recent — same as uploaded during application). Aadhar card, PAN card photocopy.
  • Admit card + application form printout (2 copies). Medical fitness certificate (some interviews require — check notification). NOC from current employer (if already in government service). Affidavit (if required — gap in education, name change, etc.).
  • Carry everything in a neat folder/file — not in a plastic bag. Organize documents in sequence: personal ID first, then education (10th to highest), then certificates. Use transparent sheet protectors for originals.

Body Language Tips — Non-verbal Communication

Interview panel pehle 30 seconds mein impression bana leta hai — yeh mostly body language se aata hai. Enter karo — door knock karo 2-3 baar, permission milne pe enter karo. "May I come in Sir/Madam?" bolo. Chair ke paas jao, "May I sit down?" pucho. Permission milne pe baitho — chair pe poora baitho, edge pe mat baitho. Straight posture — back rest pe lightly lean karo, slump mat karo.

Eye contact: sabse important. Excessive hand gestures avoid karo. Pen/file se mat khelo. Legs: cross mat karo, spread mat karo — straight rakho ya slightly angled. Nervous habits: hair touch karna, lip biting, pen clicking — yeh sab consciously avoid karo. Practice: mirror ke saamne ya phone camera pe record karke dekho.

UPSC Interview vs SSC DV — Key Differences

UPSC Personality Test: 275 marks (total 2025 marks mein). Panel: 5 members (Chairman + 4). Duration: 25-40 minutes. Questions: personality assessment — opinion-based, analytical, current affairs, your background, ethical dilemmas. No right/wrong answers — assessment is on clarity of thought, communication, leadership potential, integrity. Marks range: typically 140-210 (average 170-180). Dressing: formal — suit/blazer for men, saree/formal for women.

SSC Document Verification (DV): SSC mein interview hataya gaya hai 2016 se — ab sirf DV hota hai. DV mein: documents verify hote hain, physical standards check hoti hai (kuch posts mein), typing test hoti hai (LDC/DEO ke liye). Koi personality assessment nahi. Documents sahi hone chahiye — ek bhi document galat ya missing ho toh candidature cancel. DV ke din time pe pahuncho — late aane pe entry nahi milti.

State PSC Interview: 50-100 marks (state pe depend). Panel: 3-5 members. Duration: 10-20 minutes. Questions: state-specific GK, current affairs, personal background, why this post. Bihar PSC mein 120 marks, UP PSC mein interview nahi hai ab (2024 se hataya). Some states conduct interview in regional language — Hindi/regional language mein answer dena acceptable hai.

Panel Composition & Marks Distribution

UPSC panel: Chairman (usually a retired IAS/IPS officer or academician) + 4 members (bureaucrats, professors, professionals, sometimes a retired judge). Har member independently marks deta hai — average nikala jaata hai. Panel ko tumhara DAF (Detailed Application Form) milta hai — usme tumhara education, work experience, hobbies, home state, optional subject sab likha hota hai. Zyaadatar questions DAF se hi aate hain — isliye DAF bahut carefully bharo.

State PSC panel: Chairman (PSC member) + 2-3 members (subject experts, bureaucrats). Panel ko tumhari application form milti hai. Marks: typically 30-40% current affairs, 20-30% personal questions, 20-30% subject/department knowledge, 10-20% communication aur personality. Tip: agar kisi question ka answer nahi aata toh honestly bolo "I am not sure about this, Sir/Madam." Galat answer dene se zyaada impression kharab hota hai honestly admit karne se. Panel tumhari honesty ko respect karta hai.
