सरकारी नौकरी में सिर्फ basic salary ही नहीं मिलती — DA (Dearness Allowance), HRA (House Rent Allowance), TA (Transport Allowance), और कई अन्य allowances भी मिलते हैं। 7th Pay Commission (2016 से लागू) के अनुसार minimum basic pay ₹18,000 और maximum ₹2,50,000 है। 2026 में 8th Pay Commission आने की उम्मीद है जिसमें 25–30% और increase होगा।
Group D Jobs — Pay Level 1–3
- Pay Level 1 (₹18,000–56,900): SSC MTS, Railway Group D, Safai Karamchari। Basic + DA (50%+) + HRA = Take-home approx ₹25,000–32,000/month।
- Pay Level 2 (₹19,900–63,200): Junior Secretariat Assistant, LDC initial grade। Take-home approx ₹28,000–35,000।
- Pay Level 3 (₹21,700–69,100): SSC GD Constable, Army Soldier (GD), State Police Constable initial। Take-home approx ₹30,000–40,000।
- Example: एक SSC GD Constable (BSF) posted in Delhi — Basic ₹21,700 + DA ₹11,935 + HRA ₹5,208 + Transport ₹3,600 + Ration Money ₹3,000 = Gross approx ₹45,000। Deductions (NPS, CGHS) के बाद take-home ₹38,000–42,000।
Group C Jobs — Pay Level 4–7
- Pay Level 4 (₹25,500–81,100): SSC CHSL (LDC/DEO), Railway Clerk, Postal Assistant। Take-home ₹33,000–42,000।
- Pay Level 5 (₹29,200–92,300): UDC, Accountant, Senior Clerk। Take-home ₹38,000–48,000।
- Pay Level 6 (₹35,400–1,12,400): SSC CGL (Tax Assistant, Auditor, Sub-Inspector), Bank Clerk initial। Take-home ₹45,000–58,000।
- Pay Level 7 (₹44,900–1,42,400): CTET qualified Teacher (TGT), State PCS initial, Railway Station Master, Bank PO initial। Take-home ₹55,000–70,000।
Group B & A Jobs — Pay Level 8–14
- Pay Level 8 (₹47,600–1,51,100): Section Officer, Central Excise Inspector promoted, Assistant Professor initial। Take-home ₹60,000–75,000।
- Pay Level 10 (₹56,100–1,77,500): IAS/IPS/IFS probationer, Assistant Commissioner, DSP initial। Take-home ₹70,000–90,000।
- Pay Level 11 (₹67,700–2,08,700): Under Secretary, Deputy SP, Deputy Commissioner। Take-home ₹85,000–1,10,000।
- Pay Level 13 (₹1,23,100–2,15,900): Joint Secretary, DIG Police, Professor। Take-home ₹1,50,000–1,80,000।
- Pay Level 14 (₹1,44,200–2,18,200): Additional Secretary, IG Police। Take-home ₹1,80,000–2,20,000।
Top Level — Pay Level 15–18 (Apex Scale)
- Pay Level 15 (₹1,82,200–2,24,100): Secretary to Government, DGP। Take-home ₹2,30,000+।
- Pay Level 17 (₹2,25,000 fixed): Cabinet Secretary, COAS, CJI। Take-home ₹2,80,000+।
- Pay Level 18 (₹2,50,000 fixed): Currently only applicable to Cabinet Secretary in some cases।
- Note: IAS officers get official residence, car, domestic help, security — in-hand salary से ज़्यादा perks की value होती है।
Salary के अलावा क्या-क्या मिलता है?
- Pension (NPS): Government 14% contribute करती है, employee 10%। Retirement पर lump sum + monthly pension।
- Health: CGHS (Central Govt Health Scheme) — family को free/subsidized treatment। ECHS for Defence।
- LTC: Leave Travel Concession — 4 साल में 2 बार anywhere in India travel free।
- Education: Children education allowance ₹2,250/month per child (max 2 children)।
- Leave: 30 Earned Leave + 20 Half Pay Leave + 8 Casual Leave per year। Encashment option at retirement (max 300 days)।
- Loan: Government employees को housing loan, vehicle loan, personal loan low interest rates पर मिलता है।
